The exhibition opening is on 6. 10. at 5 PM. Jana Kučerová is a teacher of visual arts and Czech language at Gymnázium Prachatice. She studied photography at the School of Creative Photography in Prague under Miroslav Němeček. She is a member of the Fotoklub F2,8 Prachatice. In her work, she focuses on documentary photography, particularly from the Šumava region. In recent years, her work has turned towards experimental photography with a focus on luminography. The author explores the possibilities of light as an artistic medium and its ability to transform the perception of space and reality. She also creates series of structures and photograms, where the image is not produced through a camera but is created by pressing, layering, soaking, and subtle interventions on the surface of photographic paper. The resulting form oscillates between a controlled process and chance. The photographic cycle Sudety by Jana Kučerová, which will be exhibited from 6. 10. to 4. 12. 2026 at Galerii Nahoře in České Budějovice, represents a unique contribution to the long-term photographic reflection of the Czech borderlands. The series was primarily created between February and May 2017. It can be understood as a visual reflection on the identity of a landscape that has repeatedly been forced to redefine itself. A reflection on a living space where the relationship between the past and the present is constantly negotiated.
