In homage to Philip Glass, who will celebrate his 90th birthday in 2027, accordion star Martynas Levickis has put together a very personal program. A broad network of references runs through the music: In a newly composed suite, he processes folk songs from his Lithuanian homeland. Philip Glass repeatedly incorporates elements of folk music from Austria, the cradle of the accordion, into his 'Tyrol Concerto'. The spiritual echoes in Glass's work find their counterparts in Marian songs by Tavener and Piazzolla. After the great success of the program 'Tango Passion', which thrilled audiences in large concert halls and festivals with Levickis and the SKO, 'Roots' is a new, tailor-made project for this inspiring collaboration.
