Strålande Juletid - Swedish Christmas with Fjarill

Description

There are dates that become fixed stars in the course of the year – for many Hamburg residents, the Christmas concert of the duo Fjarill at the Hauptkirche St. Katharinen is exactly such a fixed point. For years, the evening has been a firm ritual of the pre-Christmas season in the Hanseatic city: a moment of pause in the venerable church space, whose acoustics and history provide the perfect resonance for the gentle power of this music. Once you've sat here, in the candlelight between the old vaults, you'll gladly return – what started as a single concert has long become a beloved Hamburg tradition. Aino Löwenmark, raised in Swedish Dalarna, brings Scandinavian Christmas tradition into the concert with voice and piano: songs like "Jul jul strålande jul" or "Nu tändas tusen juleljus" bring light into darkness and foster community – exactly the feeling that has always characterized the evening at St. Katharinen. Hanmari Spiegel, born in South Africa, expands this Nordic soundscape with violin and piano with a global musicality and worldwide breadth. When Fjarill and the audience sing – in Swedish, Afrikaans, Zulu, or German – the boundaries between concert hall and living room, between Nordic taiga and Hamburg harbor city, blur. In a time when Advent is often characterized by hustle and bustle, this concert is a conscious counterpoint: an evening where music shines softly – gentle, honest, from the heart. This reliability, the return at the same time, at the same place, makes it much more than an event: a small, precious Hamburg Christmas tradition that many look forward to all year round. Discounted tickets are available for children aged 0 to 16, pupils, students, and severely disabled persons from 50%.
