Description

The Austrian-Hungarian writer Ödön von Horváth (1901-1938) narrates tales of boxers, wrestlers, athletes, mountaineers, parachutists, skiers, and a football-loving boy in his early pointed short prose, which he summarized under the genre term 'Sportmärchen'. Characteristic of the 'Sportmärchen' is their dialogical, antithetical form, which announces the future dramatist. They are dramatic studies, teaching scenes, mini-dramas. The actor and director Matthias Peter has organized Horváth's 'Sportmärchen' according to dramaturgical aspects and compiled them into an entertaining, cheerful text revue. The flutist Daniel Pfister and the guitarist Christian Bissig musically illustrate and counteract the stories. The performances are conducted with a collection (suggested price CHF 20. –).
