Southbound Steve

Description

Southbound Steve Blaser from Hauptwil TG celebrates solo with vocals, resonator guitar, banjo, ukulele, harmonica, and effects, the so-called "American Roots and Folk Music." He focuses on the eras from the beginning of Prohibition in the Roaring 20s, through the Great Depression, to the end of the 1950s, until "the day the music died." Defining his program are the roots and folk music styles of country/hillbilly, blues, swing, and gospel in all facets, up to the development into popular music and rock'n'roll/rockabilly. Southbound Steve invites the audience on a historical and narrative journey to the American South and its musical roots: whether by train, truck, or as a pilgrim on dusty and endless highways, over the Appalachian mountain ranges.
