Description

What does it mean to resist? To refuse to surrender and maintain strength even in the most terrifying moments? During the performance, you will hear the stories of female fighters. They recount the courage and strength of women who resisted oppression, occupation, injustice, and inhumane conditions in France, Lithuania, and Ukraine – from the past to the present. In France during World War II, women played all roles in the resistance against the Nazis: armed with weapons or with typewriters under their arms, with suitcases on their backs or while producing forged documents. In Lithuania, since 1944, women joined men in the resistance against Soviet occupation. Together, they took refuge in the forests, fought, and became part of the partisan war: working as couriers, hiding in bunkers, writing poems. In Ukraine today, more than 60,000 women are fighting to defend their country against Russian aggression. They are doctors, teachers, journalists, politicians, artists… What would these women say to each other if they could meet? The authors of the performance are narrators Milda Varnauskaitė (Lithuania) and Ariane Pawin (France) in collaboration with singer and musician Oksana Zhuravel-Ohorodnyk (Ukraine). The performance will be conducted in several languages, with translation into ENGLISH. A short summary in Czech will be available.
During the performance, there will be a program for children (see festival program), where you can reserve places for your children.
