Description

In 2027, the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra's spring tour will go back and forth across the Atlantic. Antonín Dvořák traveled from Prague to New York and back, where he immediately composed the symphonic poem The Midday Witch based on a Czech legend. Miklós Rózsa was familiar with film music: he won three Oscars, including one for the music for Ben Hur. Less known is that he also composed for the concert hall, e.g., an atmospheric viola concerto. The SJSO is very pleased to have secured one of the most renowned soloists for this, the British violist Lawrence Power. Also, Igor Stravinsky's life journey led across the Atlantic, and his Petrushka has accompanied him along the way.
