Description
In the oldest Swiss song "Vreneli ab em Guggisberg," the legendary Simeliberg has an enigmatic presence. It is at the center of the story, yet it seems to hide something. Does it hold a long-forgotten secret? Longing, greed, violence, unrequited love. How does it relate to the human fates that happen at its foot? The musical theater "SIMELIBERG" deals with this very mythical dimension of our Swiss folk songs. The choir performs together with five actors on stage. Singing and acting blend and take us on a musically theatrical journey back to the time of our ancestors and to the origins of our Swiss history. Revival of the Swiss folk song play With "SIMELIBERG," the forgotten genre "Swiss folk song play" is brought back to life. The piece features well-known old Swiss folk songs, including "Schönster Abestärn," naturally the Guggisberg song, and some less known ones. The young composer Moritz Achermann arranged the folk songs anew for "SIMELIBERG." After a successful tour with stops in Solothurn, Bern, Zurich, Sursee, Uster, and Guggisberg, the musical concludes its journey with a grand finale. The vocal ensemble stimmig! and the Guggisberg choir come together and tell the moving Swiss myth across all cantonal borders, along with the performers. Soloists include Joachim Aeschlimann, Ana Jukic, Christine Lather, Miro Lorenzo Maurer, and Peter Rinderknecht. Magdalena Irmann plays the accordion. The framing story is by Ueli Blum. Boris von Poser directs. The concerts take place on Saturday, October 31 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, November 1 at 4 p.m. in the hall of the Weisser Wind in Zurich. Seating is limited. Reservations are recommended (admission CHF 35/25).
