The first Side-by-side concert of the Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen with the Youth Symphony Orchestra St. Gallen brings Antonín Dvořák's 9th Symphony to the stage of the Tonhalle. And what does America actually sound like? This vast country full of contrasts and diverse cultures? The composer answers this question in the aforementioned symphony titled From the New World. Dvořák stayed in America for three years and was able to gather countless impressions, which he brings to life in his symphony. The success of the symphony was enormous, and it remains one of Dvořák's most famous works today.
