Description

The music of Senny Camara is primarily a story of strings. The strings of her Kora – traditionally reserved for men – which she has made into an ally to realize herself as an artist and also as a woman. Today, she is among the few women worldwide who play the Kora. Her music, her lyrics, her voice deliver a subtle fight for love and uniqueness. A sacred harmony recognized and supported by the older brothers and great masters of the Kora. The woman she owes the most to is undoubtedly her grandmother, who raised her in the purest traditions of the Sérère people in Tataguine in southern Senegal. Thanks to her, she also discovers the Manding culture of her father, a former Senegalese soldier, whose unwavering love for France has inspired Senny so much.
