Lower Secondary Education: Between Performance, Stigma, and Future Opportunities

Whether a child attends Real, Sek, Gymi, or another type of lower secondary school in Switzerland sometimes depends on where they live - not just on what they can do. It also depends on selection in the 6th grade of primary school and the structure of lower secondary education. The cantons organize their secondary schools very differently: integrated, separated, or cooperative. This raises many questions, such as: What ideally supports learners? What stigmatizes them? What sustainably influences their future opportunities? Come to the Science Café.
