"Stop reading! Time for rock! Not only does Mr. Schneebly's admittedly somewhat one-sided teaching program seem a bit out of place in the respectable halls of the elite school, but his delivery van plastered with Led Zeppelin stickers also stands out like a sore thumb in the school parking lot. Jack Black, unflinchingly self-assured (\u2018I serve society by rocking!\u2019), plays a loser with rock band ambitions who poses as a substitute teacher and teaches the kids the deeper values of Black Sabbath and AC/DC. One might dismiss the film as a spectacular one-man show, but the evident joy of all involved contradicts that. From the children, who all play music themselves, to Joan Cusack's wonderfully stiff principal: condescension is a word this film does not know. And one could argue that School of Rock makes it a bit too easy in its devoted celebration of its naively innocent protagonist. But just stop reading. Time for rock!"
