Description

Brig-Glis will receive the Wakker Prize in 2026 because the municipality not only preserves its architectural and cultural heritage but also actively and boldly builds upon it. Historic buildings, modern uses, high-quality architecture, and a thoughtful approach to public space demonstrate how history, the present, and the future can be meaningfully connected. The Stockalper Palace embodies this sustainable strategy of mindful stewardship. The municipality cordially invites the public to explore its architectural landmark through three engaging journeys: 10:30 a. m. – Reception of guests in the palace courtyard; Welcome by the Municipality of Brig-Glis and the Swiss Foundation for Stockalper Palace 10:45 a. m. – Children’s workshop with Alejandra Martin and Carina Pousaz: Young castle visitors embark on a creative journey of discovery filled with sound, movement, and imagination. 10:45 a. m. – Cultural panel discussion in the Knights’ Hall with Priska Dellberg, Karim Habli, and Olivier Imboden A critical discussion with guests from Upper Valais: Brig-Glis, a City of Culture and Wakker City – Valais, Land of Culture, moderated by Marie-Claude Schöpfer 11:30 a. m. – Concert matinee under the arcades with Franziska Heinzen and Clara Parolini. A melodious musical journey from the Stockalper era to the modern age: a dynamic repertoire featuring Baroque pieces, modern sounds, and rock-inspired pop. Following the concert, the municipality of Brig-Glis invites guests to an aperitif. For lunch, the Schlosskeller restaurant will serve a Brisolée as well as a children’s menu for our youngest guests.
