Shimmering Bubbles. Friedrich Glauser – Nando von Arb

100 years apart – comic artist Nando von Arb (*1992) and author Friedrich Glauser (1896–1938). But their themes are surprisingly close and highly relevant: childhood, illnesses, real and imaginary hardships. Memories rise up "like shimmering bubbles." Nando von Arb captures the zeitgeist with his graphic novel "Learning to Fear" (2023). In short episodes, he depicts different fears that affect him and his generation. Glauser recounts in "Back in Vienna" (1938) his childhood in Vienna around 1900, marked by the early death of his mother and an overpowering father. The exhibition brings these two worlds together: The graphic novel is staged in the space and Glauser's vivid narration is heard. Additionally, Nando von Arb artistically engages with Glauser. Specifically for the exhibition, he has created expressive images. The time travel spans from 1900 to the present and raises the question: What fears are in the air today?
