Description

This company leaves no wishes unfulfilled. Its repertoire includes new creations as well as great classics. Additionally, the SPCD preserves dance history for future generations. All of this makes the São Paulo Companhia de Dança, founded in Brazil in 2008, one of the most successful and respected in Latin America. Their broad skills are showcased this evening with three very different choreographies. For the choreography "Gnawa" for 14 dancers, Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato was inspired by his hometown Valencia. Sea, sun, colors, and aromas flow into this dance piece, which takes the solo as its starting point. "Ataraxia," a concept from Stoicism with the same title, means that pain does not come from change but from its resistance. Choreographer George Céspedes combines dance with geometric-mathematical elements, creating very special dynamics. And dancer and choreographer Leilane Teles explores in her dance piece "Umbó" how we become the person we want to be. Credits:
