Description
Harry Rowohlt "He will become what he is," was written in his final report card. And it was true! Harry Rowohlt became everything he always was and wanted to be: a hilarious language artist and a virtuoso master of digression, a translator of the untranslatable and a reader with a thousand voices, also crowned as "Penner Harry" in Lindenstraße. His life, however, went quite differently than planned because he did not want to become what he was supposed to: the successor of his publisher father. The journalist Alexander Solloch has written an impressive biography. It is not only brilliantly researched and reveals many surprises, but also has a "very own, a Harry Rowohlt sound" (Deutschlandfunk Kultur). He talks about the life and work of the jack-of-all-trades, with actor Olli Dittrich reading from the master's texts. It will be a huge celebration! Alexander Solloch, born in 1978, raised in Niederrhein, studied history and French in Leipzig and Aix-en-Provence. After his traineeship, he worked as a freelance author and radio host. In 2011 and 2019, he was nominated for the German Radio Award. Since 2014, he has been a literature editor at NDR. Olli Dittrich, a trained theater painter, is a master of transformation. The four-time Grimmepreis winner is considered one of the best contemporary creators of fictional characters. His films, TV formats, and parodies have been nominated and awarded numerous times nationally and internationally. He is also a composer, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist with nearly 2 million records sold, a solid figure in the music business. With his most famous character, the bar philosopher "Dittsche," Dittrich regularly appears on major German stages, including Schauspielhaus Bochum, Berliner Ensemble, and Elbphilharmonie. The nearly three-hour solo performance was awarded the LEA Award in 2021.
