Description
Sabine Marcelis (*1985) skillfully handles light and color, reflections, and transparency. The Dutch designer transforms translucent materials like glass, resin, or natural stone into luminous, reflective, and spacious objects. Her works capture light and, despite their presence, sometimes also despite their large dimensions, deploy an astonishing lightness and a profound atmosphere. In her minimalist projects, she combines design, art, and architecture. The first exhibition of Marcelis in a museum brings together central works from recent years and luminous pieces created in situ for the exhibition. A stripped-down scenography condenses lamps, mirrors, and immersive installations into an intense spatial experience. Designed as an oasis, a lounge furnished with furniture designed by the designer invites relaxation. Samples and material studies offer insight into her creative process. The result is a fascinating staging, overflowing with colors and magic – an exhibition where the boundaries between object and environment blur.
