Description

In 2008, Cris Moreira gave birth to twins. One of the children, Francisco, passed away after two days. He was buried in 'Block 16' of the Cemitério da Saudade, the cemetery of longing. In her Lecture Performance, the Brazilian artist tells of her grief using documentary material and audiovisual means: she addresses the invisibility of this pain in a society that treats pregnancy as a public event, but the loss of a child as a private matter. With her deeply personal yet community-building solo performance, she asks: Who listens to a mother who speaks of loneliness and death? A production by Esparrama! / Cris Moreira.
