Pretty Scary Things: 4x Horror

Description

On Friday evening, October 30th, we invite you to 4 × Horror, a journey through almost 25 years of Asian genre films. This special edition features contributions from Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand, showcasing how horror can be conceived and crafted in various ways – as formal experiments, cursed spaces, physical experiences, or media hauntings. Together with the curatorial collective Never Watch Alone, the student cinemas Filmstelle ETH/UZH and Klub Kuleshov ZHdK, as well as Art or Trash Cinema Podcast and CUT! Film Science Association, we focus on works that depict horror with an unmistakable signature. From 5 PM, there will be dinner and drinks, and in the old ticket booth, tarot legend Madame Selma will read the cards – a small ritual that lifts the veils of night a little. 5:00 PM Opening of the evening with dinner, drinks, and tarot legend Madame Selma in the foyer 6:30 PM One Cut of the Dead Filmstelle Selection 8:15 PM Break (approx. 15') 8:30 PM Ju-On: The Grudge Art or Trash Cinema Podcast Selection 10:10 PM Break (approx. 20') 10:30 PM Swiss German Premiere: Ghost in the Cell Klub Kuleshov Selection 12:20 AM Short break with free filter coffee (approx. 10') 12:30 AM Shutter Never Watch Alone Selection Program: Never Watch Alone (curatorial collective behind the successful event 8 Hours of Horror), student cinema Filmstelle ETH/UZH, student cinema Klub Kuleshov ZHdK, and Art or Trash Cinema Podcast.
