In 1987, Pippo Pollina first appeared as a singer-songwriter on stage – in a small theater near Bern. Forty years later, the Sicilian musician reflects on an extraordinary career: 25 albums, over 200 released songs, around 5,000 concerts in about 20 countries across three continents. Pollina's music knows no borders. His open-minded attitude led him to renowned collaborations with songwriters from various European language regions such as Konstantin Wecker, Georges Moustaki, Schmidbauer & Kälberer, Paolo Conte, Franco Battiato, Inti Illimani, or Rebekka Bakken. He also worked with major symphony orchestras – including the London Session Orchestra, the Ukrainian Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Toscanini, the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra, or the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra – as well as with musicians from jazz, rock, and world music like Charlie Mariano or Agricantus. Despite stylistic diversity, one thing remained central for Pollina: the song as an artistic core. After four decades of intensive stage work and before a longer creative break, Pippo Pollina now presents his solo program. From his rich repertoire, a concert emerges that combines timeless classics with new songs – complemented by rarely performed pieces and essential hits. While he alternates between piano and guitar, unpublished photos and videos are projected, vividly illustrating his extraordinary story: from Palermo in the 1980s, shaped by the fight against the Mafia and a societal crisis, through his travels with guitar and sleeping bag to international tours and early companions like Linard Bardill or Konstantin Wecker. Pure Pollina: without effects, without frills. Only his storytelling voice and his unmistakable singing, which has gained depth, maturity, and expressiveness over the years. Pollina will be accompanied in the second part of the concert by a special guest: musician Elisa Sandrini, who was appreciated by the audience during the last tour of the Sicilian singer-songwriter. The wonderful singer, pianist, and accordionist will add extra momentum to Pollina's songs with her harmonically rich voice.
