Description

Directed by Pierrick Sorin, who also plays almost all the roles, this film has the modest ambition of summarizing some notable, non-exhaustive features of the history of Nyon. In a series of funny sketches, both well-known and anonymous figures come to life, each having shaped the history of the city in their own way. Pierrick Sorin was born in 1960 in Nantes. After growing up, he became a video artist, set designer, and director. Among other works, he filmed a similar piece in 2007 for the Château des ducs de Bretagne in his hometown. This prompted us to ask Pierrick Sorin for a similar work to illustrate the history of our city over the centuries in an unconventional way, with the castle as a backdrop and Lake Geneva as the protagonist. Thus, various boats navigate increasingly anarchically, passing by those who have made Nyon or represent it: among them our ancestors, the "Lacustres," who are assumed to be shy here, Julius Caesar, the founder of Colonia Julia Equestris, a worker from the Diamond match factory, and, as a neighbor, Madame de Staël, the Baroness of Coppet. There is also a brave knight, a member of the dynasts of Cossonay-Prangins, the first owners of the castle of Nyon, Gustave Falconnier, who juggles with his glass blocks, as well as Jean-Luc Godard or Auguste Piccard, who inspired the well-known Professor Tournesol created by Hergé. The whole is mixed with projections from Visions du Réel, teapots from the porcelain factory, and a concluding fireworks display, as every year at Paléo.
