Description
Aristotle left us a paradox regarding coercion: We are responsible for the bad actions we choose; we are not responsible for what we do under coercion; yet it is possible to choose to commit a bad act under coercion. We must reject one of these three statements, even though they all seem intuitively plausible, as they are mutually incompatible. In this way, we can illuminate the nature of responsibility and clearly distinguish it from guilt.
