«Am Seil abeloo» is back at the Kellertheater Bremgarten. Philipp Galizia provides the words and strings, while Chrigi Roffler hits the right keys. Wit and melancholy, mischief and seriousness alternate, and in the end, everyone agrees: Genius. The gravediggers haven't taken things too seriously in the village. For them, being a gravedigger was a sideline job. When he still had to drink a beer at the inn, they would joke and tease. He didn't say anything and just let it be. "Just wait," he thought, "you'll all end up together at the end of the rope." Lunzi, the gravedigger, is dead. "Finally passed away, the shovel put down, at the end of the rope." Meanwhile, while the funeral meal is being served in the hall, Philipp sits down with his double bass in the empty tavern. At the table where Lunzi always used to sit. For a beer's length, he tells stories and episodes from the everyday life of the gruff and sly, good-natured and taciturn gravedigger with his unmistakable mischief. He lets us partake in the earthy craft, introduces us to the funeral business, walks us through the rows of graves, sings and reflects on the past and the transient. Death as a silent guest at the side. – The piece was created a few years ago under the direction of Adrian Meyer and is timelessly relevant.
