Soloist: Eirin Rognerud, Oslo (soprano) as Solveig At 7:15 PM, a concert introduction by Andreas Peer Kähler will take place in the main hall. The concert is dedicated to PEER GYNT, the legendary Norwegian folk hero. We tell his story through compositions by Edvard Grieg, Alfred Schnittke, Andreas Peer Kähler, and two Norwegian composers of the 20th century, Harald Saeverud and Geirr Tveitt. Kähler's contribution to this theme, his "Scenes from Ibsen's Peer Gynt," is a commissioned composition that will have its world premiere as part of the project. The total of 22 individual compositions (total performance time: approx. 85 minutes) will not be performed separately by composer but will tell the story of Peer Gynt in chronological order according to Henrik Ibsen's drama and from the changing perspectives of five composers from three centuries. Stylistic breaks and surprising transitions are deliberately part of a special concert dramaturgy. In this form, the concert program impresses with demanding musical content as well as great dramatic tension. An additional highlight of the evening is the appearance of the young Norwegian soprano Eirin Rognerud as Solveig. The GERMAN-SCANDINAVIAN YOUTH PHILHARMONIC is an international and symphonically staffed youth orchestra based in Berlin, which conducts its work phases in the form of orchestra courses. During these courses, we offer young musicians from around the world the opportunity to develop a demanding concert program with the help of a highly qualified team of instructors and perform it at the Berlin Philharmonie. The orchestra's founder, artistic director, and conductor, Andreas Peer Kähler, is supported by a highly qualified team of experienced instructors. The orchestra consists of about 90 young musicians from 30 countries worldwide, usually students of international music colleges and academies. Its concert programs are thematically designed and preferably focus on themes and composers of Nordic cultural history; in this context, it also regularly commissions compositions. The orchestra is known for its dramaturgically exciting and unconventionally designed concert programs as well as for its excellent music educational work. The German-Scandinavian Youth Philharmonic is a registered, non-profit organization with the goal of "Promoting musical youth work." It is a corporate member of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland and works closely with the Chamber Orchestra Unter den Linden organizationally. In addition to this concert in the large hall of the Philharmonie, the orchestra will also give a family concert: PEER GYNT FOR CHILDREN on January 3, 2027, at 3:30 PM in the Chamber Music Hall. More information about the orchestra and the concert program can be found at www.dskjph.de. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland e. V., and its state association Berlin. Additional information:
