Paulo Mendonca is the world-famous funk guitarist who has experienced both success and a deep fall. Paulo's incredible artistic career tells a captivating story about how he played in sold-out arenas, toured with greats like Tina Turner and Peter Gabriel, sold hundreds of thousands of albums, and then suddenly disappeared from the music scene; only to rise again and celebrate a fantastic comeback. In 1991, the debut album "Respect My Aim" was released by Polar Music. The album was printed in a run of 10,000 copies and sold out in a very short time. But it was only when the second album "Different Phases" saw the light of day in 1993 that the career really took off. The single "If You Want My Love" became a hit and charted in several European charts. The rumor about the Swedish funk king reached world star Tina Turner, who was thrilled with what she heard. She invited Paulo to be a special guest on her upcoming tour. One thing led to another. Paulo came into contact with musicians like Peter Gabriel, Jean Michel Jarre, and Candy Dulfer through his years at SWATCH. With the third album "11 PM," Paulo achieved enormous success; the album sold 250,000 copies in Japan alone, and it seemed likely to follow up this success with another album. But it got even bigger. A few years later, Paulo moved to London and founded a publishing company. He spent his days producing and writing songs for artists like Craig David, Jessie J, Miley Cyrus. The publishing company quickly became a success. In 2013, Paulo returned with the album "Does Anybody Wanna Funk?" and felt like he had found his home again. The love for music was back. At first, Paulo was worried that the audience had forgotten him, but his concern proved unfounded. The fans were still there, and he received requests from both Europe and South America. That Paulo has fans all over the world is also proven by the current single "Mindcontrol." The song has over 3.4 million streams on Spotify. Now Paulo Mendonca is up to date with the album MINDCONTROL. On the album, Paulo works with Peter Iwers (who previously played in In Flames). Their collaboration began already in 2017 with the single "U Got 2 Believe." Together they have now created a complete album, which Paulo describes as "a rock record that swings."
