Description
In his multidisciplinary practice, Özgür Kar (born 1992) transcends traditional genre boundaries, combining video, sculpture, animation, and sound into expansive installations. His works revolve around existential experiences such as loneliness, longing, and uncertainty. For Kar, video is not a cinematic medium but a sculptural one. By bringing together various cultural forms of expression – such as theater, moving images, and drawing – he condenses opposing emotions into a reduced visual language that oscillates between the grotesque and tenderness. For his first institutional solo exhibition in Switzerland, Kunsthalle Basel will serve as the stage for a new theater production that spans multiple spaces.
This exhibition was commissioned in collaboration with Spike Island, Bristol.
