One Cut of the Dead (Kamera o tomeru na!)

Description

«An independent film crew suddenly finds themselves confronted with real zombies while shooting a low-budget zombie film. Instead of fleeing in panic, the fearless director Higurashi demands that his team fight the horde of corpses – and capture everything for their film. (…) One Cut of the Dead offers perhaps one of the freshest approaches to the zombie genre since Romero's Night of the Living Dead. The film not only evokes the rebellious inventiveness of the classic but also brings back the warmth and charm that modern horror cinema often lacks.» (MoMI, Jun/Jul 2002) «Disgusting, hilarious, confusing, terrifying, and yet deeply moving: This film combines elements of Marker, Antonioni, and Chaplin without ever openly quoting any of them. It is an undeniably uncompromising masterpiece. You just don’t know it yet. In twenty years, you will know – when we all finally understand what is really going on here.» (Jackson Arn, Reverse Shot, Jan 2020) Contributors and additional information: Director: Shin’ichiro Ueda Screenplay: Shin’ichiro Ueda, Ryoichi Wada Cinematography: Takeshi Sone Music: Shoma Ito, Kyle Nagai, Nobuhiro Suzuki Editing: Shin’ichiro Ueda Cast: Takayuki Hamatsu (Director Higurashi), Yuzuki Akiyama (Chinatsu), Harumi Shuhama (Nao), Kazuaki Nagaya (Ko), Hiroshi Ichihara (Kasahara)
