DAYS OF JEWISH CULTURE OLOMOUC 2026 LECTURE BY MICHAEL VIKTORÍK How did Olomouc become the center of the export brewing industry in Moravia? The lecture will present the fates of Jewish brewing families, their businesses, and the key role they played in the development of international trade in malt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Michael Viktořík teaches 19th-century history at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, Palacký University. He specializes in topics from the economic, social, and military history of the 19th and 20th centuries (such as the history of business and entrepreneurship, the activities and functioning of administration and self-government, the everyday life of fortress and garrison towns) and regional history.
