Description

Following the great success of »Nach der Sonne« (Hanser Berlin, 2020), Denmark's prominent non-binary voice returns with a new novel. »Open Sky« (Hanser Berlin, 2026) tells of a small Beguine monastery in Liège in the year 1233, where five women live in a completely new way: unmarried, not as nuns, but as human beings. In the fight against persecution by the church, which threatens their coexistence, Ida has divine visions and develops into a prophetess advocating for a just world order. Eika, in this genre-crossing historical novel, focuses on the boundaries of faith, female solidarity, and all the difficulties and miracles associated with building a new life together.
