«Niemals aus Liebe» – Reading and Discussion with Miriam Suter and Natalia Widla

Reading with Miriam Suter and Natalia Widla, followed by a discussion with the two authors, Julia Meier from Brava and Silvio Micaglio from Update Männlichkeit. In Switzerland, every two weeks, a woman is killed by her husband, partner, or ex-partner. Every week, a woman survives an attempted femicide. Why do men become perpetrators of domestic or sexualized violence against women? Why do they kill? Miriam Suter and Natalia Widla explore this question regarding what Switzerland is doing to prevent such crimes and what more needs to be done. In conversations with various experts from justice, politics, or psychology, and through engagement with current cases of convicted offenders, they try to understand what men are hidden behind the term «perpetrator», what psychological and societal mechanisms promote violence, and what preventive or curative measures exist. The discussion partners include Markus Theunert from the Swiss Men and Fathers' Association, forensic diagnostician Nahlah Saimeh, sociologist and activist Melanie Brazzell, law professor Nora Markwalder, Federal Councilor Beat Jans, and many others.
