Description
Two translations, whose originals received great enthusiasm in France, two Freiburg translators who have been familiar with 'their' two authors for many years: While "The Life We Will Never Have" (dtv, 2026) by Timothée de Fombelle, the story of a flight into thoughts during the time of the Résistance, is praised for its "fulminant beauty" (Le Figaro), "The Love-Hungry" (dtv, 2026) captivates with analytical sharpness and "a good portion of malice" (SZ), with which Karine Tuil depicts the balancing act between triumph and loss of France's political and artistic elite.
Tobias Scheffel and Maja Ueberle-Pfaff will discuss both new releases, linguistic nuances, and interpersonal aspects with Viola Maury (SWR).
