Description
It begins with a crack, a split in the stone. Starting from the Jammerbugt on the Danish North Sea coast, where the white limestone cliffs of Bulbjerg reveal geological formations as well as scars of history, Liv Thastum follows the traces of war, memory, and ecological change. Among the remnants of the Atlantic Wall, migrating dunes, and drained lakes, the ground appears as an archive that preserves fossils as well as military relics. With sensitivity and a hybrid 'Språche' – half German, half Danish – Liv Thastum introduces places shaped by interventions in landscape and language in her poetry debut "åben die erda" (kookbooks, 2026). Through her three interconnected long poems, exploring the borderland as a geological, historical, and linguistic space, the author engages in conversation with the "zwischen/miete." Our series is moderated and organized by a team of students.
