The South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice and the Mycological Club of South Bohemia invite you to an exhibition of mushroom fruiting bodies, accompanied by a consultation for mushroom pickers and an educational program for schools. The exhibition's occurrence is conditional on sufficient mushroom growth in nature. A final decision on whether it will take place will be announced no later than October 9, 2026. ABOUT THE EXHIBITION The exhibition presents mushroom fruiting bodies labeled with names, organized by systematic groups. It showcases a wide range of mushrooms that can be seen in the South Bohemian nature during autumn. The fruiting bodies are changed daily throughout the exhibition's duration. Information panels in the exhibition hall present poisonous mushrooms growing in South Bohemia, particularly protected mushrooms, and mushrooms that produce fruiting bodies in the spring part of the season. The mycologist of the South Bohemian Museum and experts from the Mycological Club are ready to answer visitors' questions as part of a permanent consultation for mushroom pickers. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS The educational department offers a special educational program for pre-ordered school classes as part of the exhibition. For kindergarten and primary school students, an educational program is prepared, which includes a tour of live mushroom fruiting bodies and a follow-up artistic activity. This year, students will take home a decorated jar for dried mushrooms and a worksheet for further use in teaching. For secondary schools, a lecture by a mycologist can be arranged.
