Enjoy your evening for once in the museum – with colleagues, friends, or as a small break just for yourself. Explore the exhibitions at your leisure and participate in one of our diverse events. Would you like to exchange ideas about the objects in the exhibitions and be inspired to tell stories? Volunteers from TiM – Tandem im Museum are on site from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and are happy to engage in conversation with you. This time with an autobiographical reading by Nelly Schenker and a discussion round on care and coercion today. 5:00 PM:
Nelly Schenker has never stopped seeking her freedom in her life. As an activist of the international movement ATD Fourth World, she fights for the right of the poorest to exist on this earth. With her book, she aims to reach out to people and empower others to speak about their experiences. She is convinced that everything changes when we listen carefully to people in poverty and ask them questions, especially when we haven't understood something. 6:30 PM:
Karin Fischer (lawyer, former president of KESB Winterthur-Andelfingen) and representatives from psychiatry and victim support Lucerne in conversation with Basil Rogger (moderation). The legal basis for the foster children system and other forms of administrative care was finally abolished in 1981. It was replaced by a new law that created the so-called FFE, the custodial deprivation of liberty. This was again abolished in 2013 with the introduction of the Child and Adult Protection Law (KESR). The current form – called FU (custodial placement) – has been in force for 13 years now. What is the practice of custodial placement today? Is everything okay now? Where, how, and especially how often is coercion still exercised in acute situations in psychiatry and child and adult protection? When and why is someone admitted to a closed institution? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this new legal framework? And how can we prevent history from repeating itself and unwanted existences from being simply locked away again? These events take place on Museumsdonnerstag. On Thursdays, our reduced admission prices apply from 4:00 PM: CHF 6.00 for adults and CHF 2.00 for children and youth up to 16 years.
