Modeling with Fabric

Description

Suitable for people who already have experience in figure making/modeling, basic sewing skills, a very long patience, and a joy of experimenting. It will get wild! We will shape an animal creature from various textile materials with needle and thread. Does it have its origin in nature? In the world of fairy tales and fables? In our own imagination? How does an expressive counterpart come into being? What does the figure need to be playable and stage-effective? We want to explore these and other questions. There are no patterns or recipes, but don't worry, the process will show the way. Starting with a simple sketch and a rough foam core, we will work layer by layer and stitch by stitch. In meditative sewing work, a lively counterpart will grow from padding cotton, felt, and fabric. This is a time-consuming process. Probably, you will not take a complete figure home at the end of the week. However, all your questions about "how to proceed?" will be answered so that you can later finish your animal independently. Prior to the course, there will be a video conference with the participants, where we will exchange ideas, for example, about which material might be suitable for your project.
