Description
The works are created in a state of semi-trance and without preliminary sketches from a daily meditation practice, understood as a connection between the visible and the invisible. Beings inspired by Japanese mythology, folklore, and spiritual tradition—guardian spirits and sacred animals—emerge from a swirl of colors and engage in a direct dialogue with the audience through the gaze. Curated by Nora Segreto, the exhibition features around thirty works created between 2012 and 2026, including some specifically made for the MUSEC location in Lugano. The exhibition mainly includes acrylic paintings on canvas and wood, complemented by works in wood, porcelain, and resin. At the core of Miwa Komatsu's artistic work is the desire to make perceivable the invisible forces—spiritual, emotional, and natural—that permeate humans and the living world. The work thus becomes a place of encounter between artist, viewer, and community, reaffirming the power of art as a transformative experience and an occasion for reflection on our relationship with nature. The project was conceived, realized, and produced by the Fondazione Culture e Musei in collaboration with Fudo Co., Ltd., Tokyo.
