Description

An old lady, a chauffeur, and a friendship no one expected – a touching and humorous story about prejudice and humanity. Atlanta, Georgia, 1948: Miss Daisy Werthan is used to handling her affairs herself. Until the day the 72-year-old widow crashes her new car along with the neighbors' garage, and her son Boolie dares to question her driving ability. A chauffeur is needed - which Miss Daisy initially vehemently rejects. But she cannot resist the charming manner of the new driver Hoke Coleburn for long. With persistence and undeterred by some unfriendly remarks from the old lady, Hoke finally manages to get Miss Daisy to take a seat in the back. During their rides together, the contrasts – here the wealthy, educated Jewish Southern lady, there the black employee from the lower class – as well as many unexpected similarities between the two outsiders come to light. In a time when racial segregation in the USA still seemingly dictated everyday life, a deep friendship gradually develops between the protagonists. Introduction: 6:30 PM
