It is the search for a perspective and life direction that has driven queer German-Iranian Mina Richman to music from an early age. Born in Berlin but raised in the small town of Bad Salzuflen, she moves between worlds. In 2022, she released her debut EP "Jaywalker," which earned her a nomination for the PopNRW Award as the best newcomer. Raised by her father "by accident" as a feminist — as she once described in an interview with "Zeit" — she drew her artist name from the famous Cher quote "Mom, I am a rich man." The solidarity song "Baba Said" went viral during the revolution in Iran and enabled her to contribute to the fight for freedom and human rights through her music. She sees activism combined with music as a duty and necessity. In her debut album, released on March 15, 2024, via the Ladies&Ladys label, Mina Richman confronts growing up. With much honesty, she revisits her childhood and processes conflicts with her parents, cultural uprooting, and societal as well as personal issues with her body. Together with her band and producer, she developed a versatile sound inspired by soul and blues classics and modern folk and hip-hop productions. On March 28, she released her second EP "Past 25," and in April and May 2025, Mina Richman played a nationwide headliner tour in Germany and performed with Bela B in Berlin at a demo against the right, covering the Ärzte hit "Schrei nach Liebe." Currently, she is working with her band on her second album, scheduled for release in August 2026.
