In a career spanning four decades and with a discography of more than a dozen versatile and innovative recordings, the five-time Grammy-nominated Mike Stern has established himself as one of the most significant jazz and jazz fusion guitarists as well as one of the most respected electric guitar composers of his generation. Stern's music has always emerged from a colorful and diverse musical background – a place where numerous artistic styles converge to create a fresh sound rooted in jazz but not confined by rigid boundaries. Since his early recordings, the former collaborator of Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Billy Cobham, and other renowned innovators has blended elements of rock, blues, soul, and other styles with his solid jazz foundation. As an electrifying soloist, whose stunning technique combines the energy of rock fusion with sophisticated jazz harmonies and his unmistakably bluesy string pulls, Stern elevates every stage and session he plays to a higher level. He channels the influences of his personal guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, and Albert King.
