Description
With Mendelssohn's oratorio 'Elijah', one of the most significant works of church music is performed in the Martinskirche Wehr. The dramatic story of the prophet unfolds in powerful choruses, fine arias, and exciting musical scenes. About 160 participants bring the work to life: The Margarethen-Kantorei Binningen-Bottmingen, the Regio-Chor Binningen-Basel, and the Laufental-Thierstein orchestra unite to form an impressive sound body. Elijah appears as a combative miracle worker and at the same time as a doubting human before he triumphantly ascends to heaven and points to the coming savior. The musical direction is taken over by Joachim Pfläging. Soloists: Barbara Schneebeli (Soprano), Desiree Mori (Alto), Miro Hanauer (Tenor), Stefan Vock (Elijah, Bass).
