Matto Kämpf: A Puppet Show

Description

On a moonlit enchanted night, humanity approached Matto Kämpf and requested a puppet theater from him. The Bernese author and cabaret artist took this to heart. He looked for puppets, figures, and objects and crafted a program from them. There are acts with rod puppets, Kasperli figures, objects, Toggeli, potato cows, plush toys, and tin soldiers. Thematically, it covers a wide range: Alpine morning songs, generation dialogues, youthful hanging out at Spiez train station, a mummy annoyed by longevity, up to reenacting a battle with tin soldiers. The latter is combined with memories of his father, who was interested in military history, with whom Kämpf used to reenact battles on the living room carpet every Sunday.
