Description
Our world is material! This is the core idea of the permanent exhibition Material-Labor, which offers an interactive, sensory-accessible introduction to the diversity of materials. Whether animal and plant-based materials, metals, bioplastics, pigments, glass, rocks, paper, ceramics – background knowledge on raw material extraction and material cycles, processing techniques, or manufacturing processes is always provided. Exemplary objects or explanatory visualizations illustrate technical and creative processes. Together with around 1000 material samples, the online database, experimentation and listening stations, as well as literature, a broad audience, professionals, vocational and higher education institutions with a focus on technical and design fields, and school classes of all levels receive a well-founded and creatively playful insight into the endless diversity of material worlds. The rule is: touching is allowed! Thus, the Material-Labor is a place for research, investigation, browsing, and discovery, a workshop for enjoyable learning, as well as a broad source of inspiration.
