The German-French-Polish band creates its own style from global music and vocal jazz, proving that handmade, acoustic music can be not only delicate, contemplative, and colorful but also highly energetic and powerful even without drums. The multilingual French singer Marion Lenfant-Preus and the Polish guitarist Alexander “Sobo” Sobocinski have been following the idea of creating music without boxes and for a cross-generational and cross-cultural audience for over 13 years. And they do so with a lot of charm, ease, and joy of playing! The well-traveled musicians and their band now present their third studio album: “Gomera,” dedicated to the landscape and cultural diversity of the Canary Islands, where they spent many winters and collected many song ideas. MARION & SOBO BAND sounds stylistically colorful with Gypsy Jazz and also Rumba, Balkan, and chanson sounds, acrobatic solos and scat singing, original compositions, and new interpretations of old classics “transformed into the here and now” (Jazzpodium), partly with original lyrics by Marion.
