Description
With her custom-made installation Coatings, textile artist Marie Schumann (*1991) transforms the main staircase of the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen into a new experiential space. She spans delicate frameworks of metal rods with high-tech fabric, which like skins drape the space. Rising and falling, the textile forms accompany the way upward, opening and enclosing at the same time, acting as boundaries, protection, and stages. The work invites viewers to rediscover the architecture and experience how fabric and body resonate with each other.
