The journey that Magdalena Ganter embarked on with her first solo album Neo Noir (2021) is being consistently continued with Transit. Being on the move, in transit, in change – all of this is summarized by the title and reflects the reality of life of the Black Forest artist over the past three years. Thanks to Neo Noir, the contemplative thinker, songwriter, and versatile singer with her enchanting blend of chanson, cabaret noir, and jazz in the style of the 1920s was enthusiastically celebrated by the audience – and also praised and awarded by the press. Her debut album in 2021 received the renowned Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, while her nationwide tour – despite the pandemic – was crowned with great success. Ganter has appeared in TV formats such as Concerts (arte), Kulturzeit (3Sat), Szene (ZDF), Hauptquartier (TV-Noir), or Kunscht (SWR). Now, Magdalena Ganter has not only left her adopted hometown Berlin to return home as a new mother. Further farewells and resulting new beginnings were also formative. But above all, the artist draws her inspiration from her passion for cabaret and variety, which is even more pronounced in Transit than on the debut. Ganter not only celebrates all facets of femininity – she also keeps the strings firmly in her hands behind the scenes: firstly with her own label Neo Noir Records, on which the album is released, and secondly as co-producer. To do justice to the variety charm of her music, the determined artist consistently relies on vintage equipment, which once again underscores the original, yes, primitive joy as the essence of Ganter’s sound world.
