In these two performers, the cello/piano repertoire, the beating heart of chamber music, has found truly exceptional interpreters: the radiant versatility of the piano is wedded to the sensual depth of the cello in a dialogue of rare intensity. She is an Argentine-born pianist and now naturalised Swiss citizen, a former child prodigy who has become a major figure of her time. Having been trained in Buenos Aires, London and Vienna by some of the greatest masters, she combines passion with absolute artistic freedom. A strong-willed and proud artist, she refuses to be confined by any single repertoire. She simply plays what she loves. He is a Latvian-born Israeli cellist, whose life has been as eventful as his dazzling career. He was a pupil of Rostropovitch, who describes his play as follows: “[He] combines poetry and exquisite delicacy with an exceptional temperament and brilliant technique”. As a duo, everything is drawn closer and stripped back.
