Description
In the 20th century, tens of thousands of people fell victim to lobotomy and other questionable methods in psychiatric hospitals. Ina Boesch and Dorothee Kohler explore dark chapters of medical history through the case histories of their aunts and approach the fate of Marleen and Martha in a personal and touching way. In "Marleen" and "Four Sides of Life," authors Ina Boesch and Dorothee Kohler examine the consequences of psychiatric treatments: Marleen was lobotomized in 1947, while Martha was subjected to other questionable methods. Both books tell of the mental, psychological, and physical effects and offer a critical view of 20th-century medical history. Moderation: Marietta Meier. Barbara Korp, winner of the writing competition "VorSatz," reads her text at the beginning of the event. © Images: Pia Zanetti, Samuel Schalch Participants and additional information: Ina Boesch, Dorothee Kohler, Marietta Meier, Barbara Korp
