Description
Every two months, the reading circle gathers to discuss a work, alternating between classics and new releases. Everyone who has read the book is invited to join the discussion. Marlen Haushofer's novel "The Wall" (Ullstein 2004) begins quite idyllically: A nameless woman plans to spend a few days in the mountains with her cousin and her husband's company. The couple goes for a walk to the nearby village in the evening but does not return. Then, in the morning, an invisible wall separates the woman left behind from the rest of the world, and the atmosphere turns threatening. Isolated from the outside world, she prepares for survival in her small piece of nature. A feminist classic that also addresses the oppression of women and the exploitation of nature.
