Virtuosity with heart and humor
United by their love for South American and Southern European music, Paolo D’Angelo and Erika Lafosse come together to take on the wonderful guitar concerto by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. For this, they were able to enlist the virtuoso and internationally renowned guitarist and fellow countryman of Castelnuovo, Alessio Nebiolo. However, the three musicians are connected not only by their passion for Brazilian choros, Andean folklore, as well as Argentine milongas and Tango Nuevos, but also by their teaching activities at the Prova music school in Winterthur and the music conservatory in Geneva. Starting from Castelnuovo-Tedesco's guitar concerto in D major, which the Italian from a Jewish banking family composed shortly before his emigration and which was premiered in Montevideo, the three musicians repeatedly set their musical foot on the South American continent. Just as music influences itself across the Atlantic, this musical journey oscillates between the old continent and the southern, new world. The familiar follows the unknown, favorite pieces evoke memories, new things astonish through unusual instrumentation and arrangements written by the trio themselves. With their captivating playing, they make the hearts of the audience resonate; the trio masters the full range of emotions.
