Superbly played by Jean-Paul Rouve, Monsieur Jourdain appears in all his naivety, innocence, and desire for social ascent, surrounded by a superficially noble class. While a staging blending theater, singing, and dance in a continuous movement draws inspiration from the entertainments of Louis XIV's court, the costumes, wigs, and sets provide a visual feast that highlights a world governed by appearances. Between absurd lessons, romantic intrigues, and the famous episode of the "fake Turks," the show plays with misunderstandings and burlesque to subtly reveal all the irony and modernity of social satire.
